Good Lord what are those? I'm assuming mushrooms. Honestly, Australia just seems like the most interesting place in the world... Do you ever read From The Cave's blog that is linked to mine? He's always got some interesting little facts and pics about his part of Aussie.
The first three is the Fly Agaric, a deadly poisonous mushroom. Do not attempt to eat any of it, but it is stunningly beautiful (in my book). I have seen once one specimen in a forest and it was a real beauty.
Our family eats lots of forest mushrooms whenever we have the chance to find one, but the recent years have been arid so we did not have the chance.
As for the 4th and 5th - I have no idea, but my experience whispers 'avoid'. We have tonnes of mushrooms book and we do not eat one unless we are completely sure in its edibility.
ps: mushrooms are said to thrive in wet and somehow colder conditions. Is it a wonder that you in Australia are happen to find mushrooms or is it not so rare?
Wow, that remindsw me of when I was a little girl and we used to go to my nan and pops who lived out bush for Easter. We would wlak throught he forest and see these very magic mushrooms. Once, I left a letter for the Easter Bunny thee near some mushrooms. Next day, there was a reply letter, much to my astonishment, and that of my grandma..turns out, it was some tree loggers whom left the reply letter for me...magical times.
LT - yep I am ambling over to check out the cave's blog later! Thanks! I love a good read.
SzélsőFa - dont worry I was joking about consuming them. My Aunt lives in Tasmania - which is cool and wet. I live in the north of Queensland... so tropical.
Cazzie - what wonderful loggers to do that for a little girl!
when I was a teenager, I wanted to go as far as possible from the world as I knew it... I wanted to go to Tasmania, as that is just about the opposite part of the globe where I lived at that time... and where I still do live... but now I love living here :)))
I grew up :))
but I would go to a trip to Tasmania nevertheless. Any day I would go there :)
I used to work with a guy who went mushrooming every autumn and kept on inviting us to dinner to eat the fruits of his labour. He always seemed to spend a lot of time in the gents during tha autumn and so we were less than enthusiastic to take him up on his offer.
